Want to get to know Michael Hell!? – My Interview for Nokiausers.net

I’ve been recently asked by my good Friend Micky Aldridge from Nokiausers.net, if i wanna be Part of an Interview Series he is conducting on a weekly Basis, called “Interview with a Nokia Enthusiast”. Never backing down from a Challenge i gladly accepted and worked myself through 15 Questions, trying to get into every single one as in-depth as possible. Questions included my first ever Nokia Phone, why i like the Brand Nokia or how i want my future Smartphone to be!

So without further adue, check out my Interview over at Nokiausers.net and let us know what you think about it! :)

Review: The two Faces of the Nokia Booklet 3G

I remember this Day pretty clearly – the August 24th, 2009 was the Day when Nokia decided to step foot in a new Territory, my favourite Brand from Finland (and quite frankly the only Brand from Finland i can remember right now lol) has unveiled the Nokia Booklet 3G. “After more than 25 years as a pioneer and leader in the mobile industry, Nokia will bring its rich mobility heritage and knowledge to the PC world with the new, Windows based, Nokia Booklet 3G” stated the Press Release that hit my Mailbox this hot August Day. To be honest, I had no Idea what Nokia was up to at that Point. Why trying something new when the “rich Mobile Heritage” is obviously limping? Why not trying to do what they did best the last 10+ years – impress me with cool Handsets? I was fed up with Nokia at that Time and i am not completely recovered yet. Software and Hardware Faults, useless Updates of already existing Devices and much more has dominated my View at Nokia at that Time, and here they are, floating out a Netbook.

I was skeptic, had no Idea what to think about it, but i wanted to get to know the Booklet. My very good Friends of WOM World Nokia have contacted me recently and gave me exactly that Opportunity – giving me some Time with the Nokia Booklet 3G and see what it’s all about. Keep in Mind, I’m far away from being a Computer Expert. I learned over the Years how to burn a CD, but please don’t ask me deep technical Details, i just don’t know. With that in Mind, i spent two Weeks with the Booklet (Thanks again to Nokia Austria for helping out with a Euro Charger Cable) and here’s what i have in Mind about it:

Nokia N97 and Nokia N82 video face-off

I received my Sennheiser CX300-IIs today, so I thought why not record using both phones. They’re now breaking-in thanks to the N97 (and Pink Noise)

Hit of the Week 4 – An open letter to Nokia CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo

Hello and WELCOME to a brand new Column here on my Thoughts from Hell – The Hit of the Week! The Hit of the Week will (for now) be published once a Week, in order to highlight a cool Bit that has happened during the past week. Depending on what’s happening over the Week, i may post it twice a week too, we’ll see. So what’s going to be the Hit of the Week? A good blog post, a nice video, an epic review – no matter if it’s funny, informative, or just stupid enough to laugh about it, it’ll all be here. If you think you have something that’s worth a Mention, leave a Comment, or a DM on Twitter/Facebook and i’ll have a look! :)

The very first Hit of the Week, has definitely been the open letter to Nokia CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, entitled “The 10 things you need to do today to be a contender in the high-end smartphone market again”. The Guys over at the Prodigal Guide have set up 10 Bullet Points, which in my Opinion are the Key to bring Nokia back on top of the food chain again. (regardless of what the numbers are saying) If you have followed me for the last couple of months, you’ll know that i’m quite disappointed with the way things happen at Nokia. This open Letter is spot-on, honest to the Bone and every Point hits the Nail on the Head!

I definitely recommend everyone to grab of Coffee, jump over to the Prodigal Guide and join the Discussion!

Quick: The Booklet misses a Camera App

Playing around with the Booklet all Day, and a Question from my Friend Glenn Letham (Co-Founder of GISUser.com, Symbianone.com and more) popped up on Twitter: “@xMichaelSFx how do you use or activate the camera on the booklet3g… Can’t locate it anyplace… WTF?”

The Webcam on my Acer Laptop has a separated App, to snap quick Pictures or record short Video bits. If quality doesn’t matter, its just perfect for those small Things. Same as Glenn, i tried to find a Setting, App or something to access the Camera, but i failed. Even a look at the Booklet 3G Support Site didn’t help ..

… have you found a Way!?

First Impressions of the Booklet 3G – by Mona and Michael

Well well, i thought i’d never lay my hands on a booklet 3G. it’s something i don’t see using myself too often. It’s simple: I use my Phones (currently N82 and/or HTC Hero) for Mails/Tweets etc on the Road, while at Home i’m using my Acer Aspire 6930ZG, a 16″ Laptop with lots of power. I’ve already been reading some first Hands-on reviews, which were a mixed bag of nuts and so was i when i received the trial invitation by my good friends of WOM World Nokia! I wasn’t sure if i’m the right person to review a Netbook, since i’m not really a PC Expert, but what the heck, i love new challenges, so why not trial something different!?

It took a few Days to get this Thing started, cause unfortunately WOM World has sent the Device with the standard UK charging plug, which does not work here in Austria. Well, mistakes make us human i think, things like this happen. Cool Thing here is, that Nokia Austria has helped me out with a “Trial Euro Charging Plug” (Conclusion: it works! lol). i got the new plug on friday, which was the day when my lovely girlfriend Mona came over to stay here for the weekend…

Booklet 3G Mania!?

1

Just received a very funny Mail from my Friends of WOM World Nokia, who apparently took a Minute off from Work and played a fun game of “Guess Who”. How? Well, read the Title of my Post! :D

Now here’s a Question for you: What would YOU do with 40(!) Nokia Booklet 3G’s?

Guess what I would do: Loading pictures of beaches and sunshine on all of them and forget the horribly cold Weather and Snow on the Outside for just a bit!

Another unboxing of the Nokia N97

Hello,
My name is Afzal Najam, also known as eViLrAcEr and AfzalivE at Symbian-Freak. Mostly known for compiling the UltraPyModulePack.

I was contacted by Nokia WOM World on January 13th asking me which device I would like to trial and then they told me that they have an N97 available at the moment. It was my first opportunity to do something like this so I gladly accepted it.

Excited to death because I never used a touchscreen phone before! (well, except trying out iPhone…which failed to impress me)

So here I am 10 days later with a Nokia N97 in my hands for 2 weeks and since I am in Canada right now…it will be my utter delight to tell these phone-deprived people the real potential of Symbian smartphones…they’ve been living off berries for too long :D

Here’s the unboxing video (my first one) recorded with my still-awesome N82
