Mugen to bring power up the N900 in February!
Jan 12th
Breaking News that i just read on Twitter. After some Rumors, here’s now the official Confirmation that Mugen Power Batteries, the ONLY 3rd party battery manufacturer i trust, will be bringing lots of needed Power to Nokia’s true Flagship in my humble Opinion, the Nokia N900! During my Time with the N900, Battery life has always been an Issue, because seriously Nokia, 12 hours on medium Usage on a 500+ Euro Phone is not only annoying, its plain ridiculous! We are in 2010, you know!?
Anyways, Friend of the Site Micky Aldridge on Nokiausers.net has already tested the extended Battery Options for the N97 and the results were amazing to say the least. I’m also in testing mode, working the 2 Batteries on my HTC Hero and so far i must say, Mugen does not fail to deliver!
“Mugen Power is working on Extended Battery for N900 and will be releasing a 2300-2400mAh battery in February 2010. You can use following rss feed to be updated when the battery is available: N900 RSS.” – as stated on their Website! This is great News for every N900 User and i’m 100% sure you will not be sorry to spend a few Bucks on a great Battery!
My Phone of the Year 2009 is.. (Part2)
Jan 5th
Continuing from my first Part of the My Phone of the Year 2009, i wanna give you a quick heads-up of what went down yesterday so far, here are the ranks from 9 to 6:
- No.9 – Sony Ericsson Satio: a bug-infected SE handset with a great camera that sometimes appeared to have more issues than features.
- No.8 – Nokia 5800XM: i already got a lot of response to this decision, keep in mind that this is based on my personal tastes and experiences, my choices might not go along with your thoughts, and they’re not supposed to do that. anyways, the 5800XM, despite having the best stereo speakers i’ve ever heard gave me a world of troubles, spanning from damaged speakers and display to a totally useless homescreen (unless you get some 3rd party app help).
- No.7 – HTC/T-Mobile G1: The first ever google phone has sparked this Android love in me really well, resulting in eventually abandoning Symbian OS. But unfortunately the G1 was relatively unspectacular. Camera, Speakers, Battery Life .. nothing to really write a book about.
- No.6 – Nokia N97: a feature-packed mobile computer, which some hate to death and some praise as Nokia’s savior. i’m kinda stuck in the middle. while i liked the form factor with its extremely solid slider hinge and the overall features, i found the keyboard to be extremely annoying, resistive touchscreen is a matter of taste (i’m clearly against it) and RAM/phone memory issues that shouldn’t be found on a flagship device, right?
So much for the End of my List, but now let’s find out who’s on top, shall we!?
I like the Nokia N900 because…

There’s a Thing in my Pocket, but it’s not one, it’s many. Remember this Line? Sounds familiar? If you follow Nokia for a long time, like i do, this line will pop straight up in your Head. This was the main advertizing line for the late great Nokia N95, a true Flagship in it’s own Right. Since then, and of course N82 Times, Nokia has almost always disappointed. From the chrome-pealing N76, to the Disaster named N85, to the latest so called Flagship N97. Most of you know that i don’t use a Nokia Handset as Main Phone anymore, i’ve switched to the HTC Hero some Time ago. If this isn’t an Indication of how Nokia messed up recently, then i don’t know what is.
But, it seems like there is Light on the Horizon, a new Breed that i think brings back a lot of disappointed Users to the Nokia Ship again. What i’m talking about is the Device on the left Side, waiting to unleash Hell – The Nokia N900. Equipped with Maemo, the linux-based Open Source Greatness that i was able to try on the N800 3 years ago. and boy, Maemo has changed – to the better. For the first time its featuring Phone Features, which makes the N900 not only a great Internet/Media Device but a PHONE as well!
Nokia has done a Lot of things right on the N900. My Lists is what i personally thought of the N900, what appealed the most to me, what made me happy about the Device. This may not cover all Features, as i wanna keep it personal. It won’t appeal you as mindblowing Factor, but what i’m about to mention is what i enjoyed the most. Ready? I like the N900 because…
Video – The N900 plays avi!
Dec 17th
Here’s a short Video of a nice little Feature the N900 is capable of: Playing Video Files without converting. On Symbian S60 5th Edition i used the Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter for best Results, but that’s not needed anymore, which saves a lot of Time. I’ve put this 1,36GB file of a Metallica Show on it and it played without any Problems, no jumpy Videos, nothing, even if you skip through the File. Great Stuff, it was about time!
Tehkseven shows how durable the N900 is!

It was just this Morning when i prepared for Work when i stumbled upon yet another great N900 Video by the Guys of Tehkseven.net! Now i’ve known tehkseven for quite some time now as one of the most talented theme artists, but Jon and Paul are also very talented in doing Videos about their favourite Devices. Most recently, they were able to lay their Hands on unluckiest N900 Handset ever. Why? Simple, they wasted no time and put the device into some hardcore “Stress Tests”, as they like to tell it, and believe me, they didn’t go soft on the N900! The Results were some informative and highly entertaining Videos, as their latest one you see below!
This is only one of their Video Series, which i, again, highly recommend, if you really wanna see what the Nokia N900 is all about! Head over to www.tehkseven.net, watch the Videos and let the Guys know what you think!
N900 Live Feed Coverage
Dec 1st
As you might have noticed, i’m proud, VERY proud Owner of a Nokia N900 Trial Device, Courtesy again of the great People of WOM World Nokia! So far i must say that i’m one happy User. The N900 is so far a Device, that has amazed me since the N82 Days. Maemo is new, fresh, great looking and VERY nice to use, which has always been one of my Major Complaints about S60 5th Edition. I still believe that Symbian needs Buttons in some Way. It works okay with the N97 and it’s slide-out-qwerty/d-pad combination, but failed to impress on the 5800XM. Time moves on and so does Nokia and Maemo gives me a good Impression of what i can expect from Nokia in the Future – and i like that Future! In a Way to cover my Experiences with the Nokia N900, i decided to implement yet another Scribble Live Feed, which basically gets all my #N900fromhell-hashtagged Tweets and adds them to my Post below! Well, have Fun, there are Lots of daily Updates, so feel free to read along and ask whatever you like in the Comments!
