New Toy in the House: retail Nokia C6
Aug 7th
Nokia C6 Version 2, originally uploaded by HellMichael.
You may have seen my prototype Nokia C6 Coverage on Fonearena already, and this week i received a retail device, thanks to the awesome Folks of Nokia Austria. I got the black one, my colour of choice and i already love the 4-row keyboard, which is the definitive highlight for me, next to the price of roughly € 250,–, contract free.
I’ll shoot the “official” Picture Gallery in the next few days and will put up some more thoughts over on Fonearena!
Nokia C5 Picture Gallery up on Fonearena!
Apr 26th
Besides of all the N8 fuzz that went down today, i have managed to finalize and put up my extensive, high quality Nokia C5 Gallery! This is not only one of my best ever Picture Gallery, but also gives a good Taste of what my Nikon P100 can do. I absolutely love this Camera, and i also have a lot of Love to give to the Nokia C5. About 170 Euro for a Smartphone that misses WLAN, but features a new Version of Nokia Messaging, and has more, cool new OS Features on Symbian OS 3rd Version. A good build Quality, decent Battery Life and much more. Watch out over on Fonearena to see more Coverage in the next Days!

Nokia N97 and Nokia N82 video face-off
Feb 5th
I received my Sennheiser CX300-IIs today, so I thought why not record using both phones. They’re now breaking-in thanks to the N97 (and Pink Noise)
First HD Videos recorded with the Sony Ericsson Vivaz!
Feb 3rd
Last Week i reported about the brand new announced Sony Ericsson Vivaz. The S60 powered full-touch smartphone sports a 8 Megapixel Camera for still shots and, what is most important, it is one of the first mobile phones to promise 720p HD video recording. I wrote earlier that i’m quite skeptic about such promises in a mobile phone and i stay until i get my hands on one. Anyways, some new Videos have surfaced, shot with the Vivaz and tbh, it looks quite good. surely no camcorder optics, but pretty acceptable for HD videos in a mobile phone. We’ll see how this will turn out to be in terms of focus and quick movements – until then, enjoy the few bits and judge yourself? Could you see yourself using one?

Vivaz Video: Catch the Action as it happens – in HD!
Jan 26th
Brand new Video from Sony Ericsson, showing the new Vivaz in all its Glory! I still stay skeptic about 720p video recording on a phone, but i already told SE to put me on the waiting list for a trial device, so i can give this a try and who knows, maybe they prove me wrong! The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a brand new touchscreen phone, running on S60 5th Edition, with an even further tweaked OS than the Satio has been, equipped with a 8MP camera and 720p video recording!
“Here is a video of Vivaz that shows the video capturing and sharing functionality. Besides the ability of shooting in HD video quality, Vivaz has a simple-but-clever dedicated video key on the side of the phone allowing you to capture the action as it happens. You can share the video immediately in different ways: from the camera UI, from the video/photo panel or from the media player. I personally recommend sharing the HD videos over WiFi as this is very convenient and the resolution of HD videos can make some video files grow quite big.
If you don’t have an already set-up YouTube account today, you can do this from the phone during your first upload session.

Another unboxing of the Nokia N97
Jan 23rd
Hello,
My name is Afzal Najam, also known as eViLrAcEr and AfzalivE at Symbian-Freak. Mostly known for compiling the UltraPyModulePack.
I was contacted by Nokia WOM World on January 13th asking me which device I would like to trial and then they told me that they have an N97 available at the moment. It was my first opportunity to do something like this so I gladly accepted it.
Excited to death because I never used a touchscreen phone before! (well, except trying out iPhone…which failed to impress me)
So here I am 10 days later with a Nokia N97 in my hands for 2 weeks and since I am in Canada right now…it will be my utter delight to tell these phone-deprived people the real potential of Symbian smartphones…they’ve been living off berries for too long
Here’s the unboxing video (my first one) recorded with my still-awesome N82
Hell at Ovi – follow the Event live HERE
Jan 21st
We are roughly an Hour away from the Start of the big OVI Event, thats going to take place in different Parts of the World! Some lucky Bloggers are invited to the Events in person, while i’ll follow the whole thing virtually. So far it seems like that as of today, OVI Maps will be free for on-device navigation, similar to Google Maps – thanks CJ for that News! But, as Ricky Cadden over at Symbian-Guru reports: “Unfortunately, as is usual with Nokia’s Ovi announcements, it’s only halfway there – the free premium features are currently only available for 10 of Nokia’s GPS-equipped devices: the Nokia N97 Mini, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia E52, Nokia E55, Nokia E72, Nokia 5230, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 6730 classic and Nokia X6.” Bummer.
Anyways, i just can’t imagine that all the Fuzz is just for this Announcement, so i’m hoping for more in the course of the short Event. i’ll cover this thing on twitter with the hashtag “hellatovi”, you can check the Live feed right below after the Break of this Post – hopefully for some good News!
Here’s how i want my OVI Ads to be!
Jan 20th
You remember all those cool iPhone Ads, and most recently, the Droid Commercials and the totally hilarious Nexus One Videos – made me wonder where the Hell Nokia has been? Well, they’re back now with a bang and produced a VERY nice Video for the wonderful World of the OVI Store. Nowadays you just HAVE to have a cool Appearance, which keeps the Consumer watching. Above mentioned Videos did exactly that, and i’m now hoping Nokia catches up finally and turn Heads again! So without further ado, here’s the wonderful World of the OVI Store – i like this Video/Advertisement/Wake-up Call!
N82 or N86 8MP? Let CJ answer that!
Jan 19th
One of the most discussed Questions going around the Nokia Blogosphere Scene (besides of “Is the N900 worth the Money?”) is the ongoing Question of: Which is better – Nokia N82, with it’s 5 MP Carl Zeiss Banger and Xenon Goodness, or the newer Nokia N86 8MP, equipped with a 8 Megapixel Carl Zeiss Camera and 3rd Gen. Dual LED Flash? Well, since i didn’t use the N86 8MP yet, i can’t give a proper Judgement about that, but my Friend CJ, over on Zomg its CJ can! He posted a HUGE, very well done Comparison Review, with Lots of different Pictures in different Environment. As CJ stated in his Post: Because seriously, if this doesnt help you make a decision between the two, we dont know what will.
The Result? Oh nooo, i won’t spoil this one! Grab a cup of coffee, take a bit of time, judge for yourself and let CJ know what you think! Was he right in his Conclusion!? What do you think is the better one? N82 or N86 8MP? Dual Led or Xenon!?
(Picture credit goes, of course, to CJ!)
