Playing around with my new 75-300mm Canon Lens

I’ve purchased a new Canon Zoom Lens for my EOS 500D recently, a 75-300mm namely. It was a second hand one, so i got it pretty damn cheap! :) Results? Here are 2 samples, first taken with Nokia N8:

And here’s it taken with the new Lens, fully zoomed in:

Not bad, eh? Here’s one more, again this was taken with the Nokia N8 (even that pic is not bad, considering the very bad lightning)

And here’s the shot with my new lens:

So i can’t help myself but say, yes, this is awesome!

I can haz a new Laptop (pics by @3dmg inside!)

Why? Well, lets just say, Mac OS didn’t really turn out to be the thing i was waiting for. For several reasons i went back to Windows, Win7 in particular, after 5 months of working on Mac OS. Windows7 has turned out to be a gigantic Step forward for Microsoft and i thoroughly enjoyed it thus far. I definitely enjoyed the macbook (hardware) and thought it was working great, but at some point i used mac OS less than Win7 to a point where i didnt even think about mac os anymore. Very few people go back to windows and i did. and i can’t say i regret it.

Anywho, after i successfully sold my Macbook, and making a student of creating arts (or something like that) very happy, i went on a hunt for a new, windows-powered Laptop. Which had to fullfill the following 3 criterias:

  • small and handy – not bigger than 13-14″
  • powaaaaar
  • no plastic crap – after experiencing the macbooks awesome aluminium body, i didn’t want any cheap-feeling plastic stuff again.

After some research on different companies and offers, i can happily report, that i finally settled down with a real beauty. Ladies and Gentlemen, i introduce to you:

Sony Vario S – VPCS13V9E/B

Check out the full Specs here!

Specs:

  • Intel® Core™ i5-460M Processor at 2,53GHz
  • 6GB DDR3 SDRAM
  • HDD: 500GB @ 5400rpm
  • 13,3″ Widescreen LED-Display with 1368×768 resolution
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® 310M GPU /w 512MB
  • built-in HDSPA modem (HA!), Bluetooth
  • Fingerprint Sensor (uuuh..)
  • DVD SuperMulti Drive
  • Magnesium Alloy coating and low weight of around 2 kg
  • Ambient light sensor and backlit keyboard

And what can i say, this thing is just awesome. For a laptop this size, it has powaaaaar to the max and really works fantastic, for a reasonable price. It’s solid built, has a HSDPA modem built-in so i can enjoy the interwebs on the go, and a backlit keyboard, which is another must have. 13,3″ turned out to be exactly what i was looking for. big enough for some serious work, but yet portable enough for the road plus a battery life of almost 5hrs thats working just fine for me! Damn good choice in my opinion! :)

As a little bonus, i present to you some AWESOME pictures my friend Markus (follow him @3dmg and check out his Flickr Page) did last sunday. very very impressive work!

Spectacular Nokia N8 Panorama Shot by @s60inside

20101030-122034, originally uploaded by RS77.

i just had to give this a small blog post. This shot was done by my good friend Roman, aka @s60inside, while he was on a small germany vacation last week. He used the Nokia N8 and the Nokia Panorama App, which is by far the best solution to make Panorama Pictures with your Phone. I’m stoked.

All Hell will break loose at Nokia World 2010! :D

Yes thats right, I just secured a Deal with Nokia Austria for Nokia World 2010 in London!! I will be in London from Sept. 13.-16., making the most of my time over there, visiting Nokia World, WOM World Nokia/1000 Heads and more. I’m also extremely looking forward to meet fellow bloggers again, some people i already know and hopefully some new contacts as well. This is not an all expenses paid trip, which means i’ll sort Hotel and Flights on my own, but i’m just happy i dont need to pay the ridiculous 700 Euro for the 2-day ticket.

The Goal is that Nokia Austria teams up with me to bring some exclusive live Coverage, as well as Pictures, Videos and more, in return for the Ticket. Additionally i will cover everything thats going on at Nokia World for Fone Arena readers, so whatever is going on, you will read/see it at www.fonearena.com first.

Nokia World 2010

Nokia World 2010 is shaping up to be the first thing of many to come, in Nokias plan to get revenge. Nokia knew that they messed up in the past, big time. faulty hardware, buggy software and lots of stupid decisions. they have lost a lot of space to the competition, mostly Android and Apple in my opinion, and with that in mind, Nokia will fight back, full steam ahead. I am pumped and excited to see what they have in store for us!

Nikon P100 – a little play with the Zoom!

You know i really really love my Camera. One of the main selling points of the Nikon P100 are its 26x optical zoom capabilities: useless? think again!

Nikon P100 Zoom Test Bird - no Zoom

Sample 1 – full auto mode, no zoom

Nikon P100 Zoom Test Bird - 26x optical Zoom

Sample 2 – full auto, 26x optical zoom

Nikon P100 Zoom Test Bird - 26x optical Zoom + 2x digital

Sample 3 – full auto, 26x optical + 2x digital zoom

Nikon P100 Zoom Test Bird - 26x optical Zoom + 4x digital

Sample 4 – full auto, 26x optical + 4x digital zoom

As you can see, the optical Zoom is just whooping. It takes an immensely steady hand, or either a Tripod, you can still see a lot of potential there. Combine a bit of optical zoom with macro mode and you can get some stunning super macro shots. (click on the pics for the flickr high res greatness!)

I just love it!
